ercol’s Catering partner, Catermasters, who run the staff and visitor restaurant at our Princes Risborough showroom, recently launched their Chef’s Academy.  The Academy aims to provide a progression route to Chef status for Catermaster employees, providing them with training, inspiration and a recognised qualification.  The first group of students were selected to attend the Academy after showing a keen interest in food preparation and impressive potential in the kitchen.  The students are personally mentored by two of Catermaster’s top chefs, Clive Jones and Peter Illingworth.

Catermaster’s Joint Managing Director, Richard Moody, said “The Catermasters Chefs’ Academy is about investing in the enthusiasm of our staff and giving them the best possible chance to fulfill their career goals in the kitchen.  And I don’t think there is a better way of doing that than establishing a formal environment and structure where they can learn new and vital kitchen skills from two of our most experienced and talented chefs.”

So what does all this have to do with ercol?  Well, we were delighted to welcome a group of the Academy’s trainees to our restaurant facility for a couple of days real-life training.  Needless to say, we all enjoyed the fruits of their labours and look forward to seeing more trainees and eating their creations in the future!
