At the end of year show, the postgraduate students on the Buckinghamshire New University’s MA course in Furniture: Design & Technology, showed the pick of their work created during 2011. The show celebrated the talent, creativity and success of the students who have been studying for either one year full-time or two years part-time.
Dr Lynn Jones, Course Leader, commented: “the students have demonstrated huge amounts of design skill, creativity and tenacity. They are highly enthusiastic and have provided us with a very optimistic, creatively diverse end-of-year exhibition.”
Shown in the image is student Doug Macfarlane, with his “Joystix” chair, which can tip in each of four directions as the user moves, enabling them to reach for objects without having to strain or overstretch. The movement can also improve posture, for example when leaning towards a keyboard, by straightening the pelvis and spine. This was just one of many creative designs on show.
ercol is delighted to work with Bucks New University to promote furniture design.
