As well as our thriving in-house design team, ercol has a history of partnering with independent designers, be they established names, or up and coming talent, in order to bring our customers the best in design. This Autumn sees the UK become the centre of design attention, with the London Design Festival. So we thought we’d throw open our doors by inviting all those designers to enter a competition to design a new range for ercol. So if you’re a professional designer and have been waiting for the opportunity to design for ercol – now’s your chance.
We are offering designers the opportunity to submit designs for a contemporary, casual ercol upholstery collection, with a prize of £2,000 for the winning design and additional royalty income if the range goes into production. But hurry – the closing date for designs to be submitted is 31st October 2009.

Whatever happened to this competition? I though the entries were supposed to be announced in mid-December?

Thanks for your question.
We had a great response to the competition, with the judging taking place in December. The winner’s been informed and the other entrants we’ve thanked and invited for a tour round the factory to see what we do. We are now working with the winner to develop their design, which we think looks great, and we hope to launch it later in the year, when we’ll make a full splash about it.
