No, not a major film studio, the MGM is the Manufacturing Guild Mark, awarded by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.  The MGM is awarded as a mark of distinction to a select band of manufacturers, based on a range of criteria, which include a commitment to design, quality of making, efficiency of manufacturing, a concern for the environment, a commitment to training and above all that most of the Guild Mark holder’s manufacturing is carried out in the UK.

Ercol are delighted to be holders of the Manufacturing Guild Mark in recognition of our work in these categories.  We attended a presentation of certificates for 2010 Guild Mark holders on 26th January at the Interiors 2010 show at the NEC, by Peter Kelsey, Master of the Worshipful Company.

John Douglas, chairman of the selection committee, said at the awards  “In the current climate, it’s not easy being top end British manufacturer, but the best of British design and manufacturing is something to be celebrated and promoted” – a sentiment we’d heartily endorse!
